Svedala is a small municipality 20 km outside the city of Malmö in the south of Sweden with about 21 000 citizens where approximately 1500 are youngsters in the age between 13-18. There are three main areas within the municipality where the town of Svedala is the biggest, and then there is two smaller areas called Klågerup and Bara.
Ungas fritid is a unit within the municipality that does youth work for ages 13-18 years. There are 7 youth workers working full time and about 7 part time youth workers, all paid by the municipality. The youth work in Svedala has a broad variety of different activities. We run youth clubs in all the three areas of the municipality, that are open 4-5 evenings a week. Here people can come and go as they please, take part of activities or just chill. We also run different youth projects and groups that come together for more specific interests in learning specific things, cooperate with the local schools, social services and the police in different ways. Youngsters can come to us with ideas and we will guide and coach though the project. We can also starts project based on needs, for example integration project and project with an empowering agenda.
