Ung fritid is a youth work division in the public sector. The aim of our division is to provide young people (ages 13-18 years old) in the municipality of Södertälje with the opportunity to engage in non - formal recreational activities, cultural activities and sport. We provide possibilities for young people to engage in a multifacitated offer of activities as well as the possibility to become absorbed in and develop different interests. For example music production, event planning or programming and robotics.
Our pedagogy has its origin in non-formal learning, therefore the majority of our youth activities are of a non-formal or informal character. One of our main goals are to create an atmosphere that encourages our visitors to create activities for their fellow young citizens. We also endeavor to create democratic forums for our young people. These forums aim to teach democratic values and how to make your voice heard in a democratic society. We see the importance in youth work and therefore we actively work to improve and enhance the quality of our offer. We do this thru regular evaluations and improvement initiatives.
