The Child and Family Service of the Department of Social Services of the City of Munich is responsible for youth work in about 140 institutions, run by welfare organisations. They offer low-threshold activities for young people in Munich, mainly to young people aged 6 to 18. In some facilities leisure activities for younger children or young adults up to 27 years old are as well part of the programme. Youth Work in Munich is open for ALL children and young people regardless of nationality, religion, culture, gender, ability or sexual orientation.
The centres have developed a thematic focus:
- Socio-Spatial youth centres and/or children’s centres
- Adventure playgrounds and farms for children, children’s circus
- Youth culture facilities (theatre, art, music)
- Media- and computer-related activities
- Holiday programmes for children
- Cooperation with schools
- Support to transition school / work
- Sport and movement
- Ecology

Staff:
Between 2 and 4 staff positions for professionals with university degrees and state-certified educators.
Additional staff is altogether about 25 persons, half of which are voluntary workers.
Buildings:
In every new city district new buildings are planned for Youth centres.
Average size about 600 qm. As a planning basis we expect between 10 and 15 % visitors of our target group.
