Municipality of Cinisello Balsamo provides different kind of youth-work for and with young people of the city. The Youth Policy Department carries out projects which aim at supporting young people and their skills development, in partnership with other local organizations. Beneficiaries of the activities are young people aged between 11 and 30 years old.
The projects use to focus on social cohesion and inclusion program (development of the community and involvement of foreign citizens), drugs’ prevention, youth mobility, active participation of youngers to social life. They include different proposals: educational and socializing activities (Youth Center, training courses in high schools, prevention of marginalization risks); culture and creativity (art workshops, web radio, events); promotion of active citizenship and volunteering (National Civic Service, support to youth association, European mobility).
The staff is made up of technical and administrative personnel who is direct employee of the municipality and/or cooperates with it; youth workers of Cooperatives and Associations for specific projects; National Civic Service volunteers and trainees. The Youth Policy Department works closely with other departments of the Municipality, for example the cultural center and the department of culture in many projects around art and culture.
The Municipality of Cinisello Balsamo has been involved since 2009 in different European projects. We often take part, both as participants and host institution, to European mobility projects. The Municipality of Cinisello Balsamo is member of two international networks: Drums for Peace, which promotes especially Youth Exchanges based on arts method, and Intercity Youth, which involves municipalities in all Europe sharing good practicies in the field of youth work. The Municipality is accreditate as EVS Sending and Coordinating Organisation in Erasmus+.
The objectives of the Municipality of Cinisello Balsamo are:
– to promote activities addressed to young people in order to develop creative and innovative capital;
– to support the development of individual and social entrepreneurship skills of young people;
– to remove barriers to the access to knowledge, information and social participation;
– to consolidate and implement the local networks.
The strategies of the Municipality of Cinisello Balsamo are:
– to identify new local innovation places where creativity is linked to entrepreneurship;
– to adopt an integrated approach for youth policy development;
– to design new policy in line with the directions of the regional framework, national and European.
